Mechanical Engineer

Job Description: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer for our Cedar Rapids, Iowa Design Center to provide technical leadership for the optimization of legacy products within the Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) portfolio.
Job Responsibilities · Work collaboratively on cross-functional teams to execute projects that target improvements in product performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, or to reduce supply chain risk.
o Define Engineering work package o Provide input to develop project schedule o Estimate Engineering resources required · Develop and execute component and/or product validation test plans along with acceptance criteria.
· Synthesize test data into technical communication for effective written and oral presentation to project stakeholders and senior leadership.
· Oversee the development or modification of the product definition file: o 3D model of components and assemblies (CREO) o 2D drawing (CREO) o BOM creation · Direct tasks of mechanical designers, technicians, and other resources.
· Analyze safety risks and develop mitigation plans using FMEA and FTA techniques · Contribute to development of user documentation such as instruction bulletins, safety labels, and product markings.
Desired Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline · 3-5 years of relevant experience in mass production industry · Understanding of ferrous/nonferrous metal components, thermoset/thermoplastic components, springs, and fasteners.
· Familiar with manufacturing processes (e.
g.
progressive stamping, thermoplastic molding, thermoset molding, etc …) and the techniques used to optimize component design (e.
g.
design for manufacture, design for assembly, etc …).
· Experience with CREO or related CAD software Expectations: · Able to work efficiently under the pressure of aggressive deadlines on high visibility assignments · 5-10% travel to manufacturing facilities and customer sites in North America · Willing to occasionally work non-standard hours to address critical business needs or to accommodate team members in other time zones Qualifications: Let us learn about you!
